Image of Turin, Centreline destination.

While not typically the first choice for Alps-bound skiers, Turin, presents a hidden gem for winter enthusiasts. This airport provides great access to some of the finest ski resorts in Italy, France, and Switzerland. Surprisingly close to Turin Airport, these ski destinations offer high-altitude slopes with breathtaking mountain vistas all without the large crowds, catering to skiers of all levels.

Sestriere is a high-altitude ski destination, located only 1 and a half hours from Turin. It is part of the Via Lattea (Milky Way) ski area, which is one of the biggest in Europe, covering 400 kilometers. Other nearby resorts in Via Lattea include Sauze d’Oulx, Claviere, Cesana, Sansicario, and Montgenèvre in France. This combined ski area allows skiing across borders and has slopes for all skill levels, from beginners to experts. You can enjoy various types of slopes, from open powder bowls to pretty tree-lined ones.  Besides skiing, Sestriere has a lively apres-ski scene with many bars, restaurants, and shops.
